The crisp, cool fall weather is a sure sign that the layering season is upon us. Sweaters, scarves and sturdier fabrics abound but most importantly coats are now on the horizon!
What is fashionable layering without the most important component?? A coat, well cut and well proportioned can make any outfit! And with what appeared on the runway for the fall collections it looks like designers repeated that maxim as their mantra. Take a look at what Philip Lim offered as covering:
And of course the toppers at Burberry Prorsum were plentiful and drool-worthy; the cobalt blue military coat alone would dispatch the winter doldrums:
And over at Celine, what can you say other than Phoebe is BACK! Previously at Chloe, Phoebe Philo is a breath of fresh, unobstructed air in fashion breezing through with the fall 2010 collection (only her second!) at Celine. The fussiness and overwrought designs seen season after season on the runways gave way to her clean, simplified, construction-centric pieces that amazed as each one came appeared. A very outer-wear oriented collection shows that Phoebe, at the helm during the creation of the now iconic Chloe Paddington handbag, still has her fingers on the pulse of what is “NOW”. The minimalist loveliness at Celine is exactly what the doctor will order for a case of the winter blah’s:
While outerwear is truly functional, wearing a statement piece can not only keep you warm but transform your whole ensemble to the next level. Why wear a humdrum, plain-jane coat when with the right cut, embellishments, or proportions in your outerwear can speak volumes. Your style will be elevated to the forefront of a background of snow, rain, ice and other dull, boring seasonal options. Expressing yourself in all of the four seasons has never been easier! Make your cold weather statement!
